Communicates effectively in instructional materials and other forms of instruction.
Rating-4 Highly Skilled
I believe that my "Calculate Your Own Bonus" lesson (5603bonuslesson.doc) prepared for EME5603 and implemented as a training program at Ocwen Technology Xchange is an excellent example of written communication. The document utilized components of Keller's ARCS motivation approach by opening with a discussion of the learner's own paycheck as a reward system (page 2), serving to both gain attention and assure relevance to every OTX employee's situation. It also included elements of Gagne's events of instruction in the introduction by both gaining the learner's attention and informing him of the objectives (page 2) Jargon was avoided except in the instance where the learner was familiar with the jargon because of everyday usage. For instance, the word PMO was used throughout the document because all learners were already familiar with the fact that PMO meant Project Management Office. I believe the document was well organized, using headings and subheadings to create a document map. The document provided sufficient level of detail without covering information that should already be familiar, such as how to use an Excel spreadsheet. And the document concluded with a succinct summary (page 25) that tied together main points while facilitating job transfer.
