In response to a request from the Geolearning company, a potential client, I prepared a design proposal for a project of theirs involving an online tutorial in computer basics for senior citizens. The proposal is summarized in the document Geoproposal.doc. Because the timeline allowed for the proposal was only one week, I utilized demographic characteristics of the learner group as the primary basis for the design. For instance, because a large proportion of senior citizens have degraded physical abilities, I concluded that the design should include oversize print and should avoid complex psychomotor interactions (page 4).
In EME6415 my learner analysis (6415learnercharacteristics.doc) focused largely on identification of existing skill sets in the learning group, revealing the fact that the group's self assessments indicated diverse levels of graphical design programming experience (page 2). This led my group to select a flexible "drill down" navigation system for our Authorware tutorial, providing varying levels of detail to satisfy both the novice and the experienced programmer's needs.
